Biography
Estefane Santos is a Brazilian trumpeter who transforms memory into breath, rhythm into movement and ancestry into improvisation. Her musical path began at age 13 through a social project in Guarulhos, where the trumpet became a gateway to freedom. From 2014 to 2018, she refined her craft at EMESP – Tom Jobim under Daniel D’Alcântara, shaping a musical voice that now moves fluidly between jazz and the pulse of samba.Throughout her career, Estefane has performed at major festivals in Brazil, collaborating with artists who expand the boundaries of contemporary music — from Daniel D’Alcântara to Ted Nash of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. In 2018, she was selected for an exchange program at the Juilliard School in New York as part of a septet of Brazilian students. That same year, she received a $34,000 scholarship from the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Trumpet from Souza Lima & Berklee in 2021, completed a postgraduate degree in Music Education, and in 2024 finished her Master’s in Jazz Performance at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona. With this achievement, she became the first Brazilian woman trumpeter, up to 2025, to hold a master’s degree in jazz — and notably, an international master’s degree.Estefane has shared the stage with artists such as Ted Nash, Anat Cohen, Liniker, Luedji Luna, Brasil Jazz Sinfônica, Chico César, Letieres Leite and Richard Bona. In 2023, she toured Europe with Latin Grammy–winning singer Liniker, performing in Portugal, London and Denmark. Her music has echoed on stages such as Rock in Rio, The Town Festival, Casa da Música and the Barcelona Jazz Festival. She is currently touring Spain with singer Nil Moliner and performing in jazz and Brazilian music projects. In 2026, she will release her debut samba jazz album, a work that blends improvisation, Afro‑Brazilian rhythm and personal narrative — a sonic manifesto of freedom, identity and feminine power.
